As a general principle, humanists are not particularly concerned with anything that might qualify as 'the supernatural.' Most humanists reject the existence of the supernatural entirely, but there is nothing self-contradictory about a person who is both a humanist and who believes in something that might qualify as supernatural.

Gullible Christians & Urban Legends

Is it possible that traditionalist Christians are more susceptible to believing ridiculous urban legends? There's far too much gullibility in society generally and there's nothing about atheism which would prevent a person from being gullible when it comes to urban legends, but I see far too many cases of Christians accepting and passing along urban legends which just happen to confirm their prejudices, assumptions, and dogmas. Given the fact that Christianity promotes accepting implausible claims on faith, perhaps it should be expected if the faithful also fail to exercise any serious skepticism or epistemic standards when they encounter other, related claims.

Sometimes believers ask what "atheism has to offer" and what atheism can do for people, clearly implying that theistic religion does offer something that atheism can't. Perhaps, though, it's not so much that atheism has anything to
offer (since it's not a philosophy or ideology, it can't) but rather than it has
expectations. Rather than making you a better person, perhaps atheism requires that you already
be a better person.

The idea that atheists have no reason to be moral without a god or religion may be the most popular and repeated myth about atheism out there. It comes up in a variety of forms, but all of them are based on the assumption that the only valid source of morality is a theistic religion, preferably the religion of the speaker which is usually Christianity. Thus without Christianity, people cannot live moral lives. This is supposed to be a reason reject atheism and convert to Christianity.
